Presentation
Gold is regarded far and wide for its very own value, that continues being joined into human progressions for an impressive time allotment. Coins including gold rose about 800 B.C., As the years advanced, people have continued keeping up gold for a grouping of components. Social requests and economies have put a motivating force on gold, along these lines proliferating its value. It's the blend we fall back on if various sorts of money don't do what needs to be done, so it for the most part has some an incentive as security from mentioning times.
Gold meets Blockchain
Today, with blockchain finding set up as a secured bookkeeping strategy, similarly as Bitcoin, winding up known to the hard and fast people, some other time of gold-reinforced cryptographic money is rising. There is a shocking (and requesting) run for incredible riches happening today in the crypto world, similarly as nations, are intending to give their own one of a kind gold-based cryptographic cash.
A sign for digital gold is coming. Diminish Grosskopf, The Sprott President (An overall elective asset boss with a describing revolve around significant metals and certifiable assets) in correspondence with Kitco News, he ensured that the possible destiny of gold is digital. Sprott has offered a couple of new affiliations which interweave present day digital blockchain development with ordinary significant metals exchanging frameworks.
Digital Gold Token Endeavor
Digital Gold is an endeavor blockchain-based, proposed to Propel the Digitalization of cash related markets, and afferent theory instruments. It would like to accomplish this by empowering customers to Buy consideration in gold.
Its an Ethereum ERC-20 based, customer can choose to convey the token any place on the planet, without holding up be stressed over tricky trade charges, considering the way that most of the trades are not free. Customers are similarly allowed to make limitless portions since the organization doesn't apportion account obstacles. Customers must note that transports eventually demand the gas' cost charged by the Ethereum arrange. In this manner GOLD token customers may would like to get a little degree of the property charged each day. It's fundamental to consider that the assistance cost was made to be for all intents and purposes indistinguishable, or lower than the costs related to saving gold in a storage facility or credit expert. Customers may would like to cover a 0.99percent yearly stockpiling cost.
Why GOLD?

Inadequacy the value: Paying little respect to whether the USD is among the planet's most huge hold monies, when the estimation of the dollar drops against various money related measures this situation drives people to run into the gold for fence their favorable position regard, which this case extends gold rates. The cost of gold almost essentially expanded some place in the scope of 1998 and 2008, going to the 1,000-an-ounce achievement in mid 2008 and about duplicating some place in the scope of 2008 and 2012, hitting the 1800 - $1900 mark. The lessening from the USD happened for different reasons, including the nation's colossal spending plan and trade deficiencies and an immense expansion the money supply.
Security: This is described as a period where costs fall when business activity moves back and the market is upset by absurd commitment, during the Downturn, the comparable getting force of gold bounced while various costs dropped emphatically. This is because individuals picked to store money, and besides the most outstanding spot to hold money was in gold and silver gold.
DIGITAL GOLD
The way is changing, GOLD Token is a splendid way for your enthusiasm for GOLD. The Digital Gold endeavor didn't immediate any Underlying Coin Offering, as no crowdfunding exertion has been done. Every single medicinal methodology are self-financed, hence any procurement of this GOLD token adds to a brief sharp understanding based acquisition of gold.
The overall eagerness for the gold market is eminent, however the estimation of gold Trade Traded Assets (ETFs) beats the $100 billion cutoff points. Together with the GOLD token, the metal is at present prepared to be more than the standard wealth stockpiling structure and adventure instrument. With the assistance of all blockchain, gold is by and by prepared to fill in as an installments technique for exchanges of different sorts.

Let the Games Begin!

Join a team!
Prelude
"Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal." - John Kennedy, 1963
Many of you have expressed interest in our government experiment. Today we lead the charge.
Our system is one of financial and people development - as our people grow stronger, so do we get richer. Economy comes from the Greek for household management, and we function as a big house: full of people and full of treasures. But there comes a time when these treasures must be put into the hands of the new, to invest, to work, to study and to make them into more than gems but jewels, more than gold but ornaments, more than a band but a high society.
Our system for people development is taken from Benjamin Franklin's system of virtues, along with the accompanying study guides. For rarely has anyone so succinctly and completely spelled out the path to the good life. For those new to Benjamin Franklin, I suggest taking his 13 week course in self-improvement; one which he took several times throughout his journey. He began each day, for there was not one to lose, asking "What good shall I do this day?" and addressed the Powerful Goodness within and without.
How much better would the world be if we did likewise.
From there he devised a system. First he delivered his almanac, Poor Richard's, to educate and entertain the people with witticisms, he authored the Way to Wealth, and made himself a formidable hand in politics, penning such tyraids against governors that he was formally reprimanded by the age of 14. Having charge of the printing press, mastering the craft of language, embossed him with qualities few would ever come to possess. And he used them well.
After sometime, he orchestrated a system to spread his good deeds, not by hands but into the minds of others - forming a Junto. This Junto, or social club, was a peaceful, sensible, and rigorous system for conducting societal study and investigating intrigues. Upon the end of a Friday night, a new topic would be chosen for that week's study. Upon the reconvenning the subsequent Friday, each would report what they had learned regarding Morals, Politics, or Natural Philosophy (called science today). Each week, one would present an essay he or she had written, and with 12 members present, that meant 4 essays per year to the person.
In such a way the spirit of truthful discovery was much advanced within the colonies, and which lead not to a resistance so much as an orderly deliverance into something much, much better than the proclamations of kings and magistrates.
“Everyone here will ultimately be judged – will ultimately judge himself, on the efforts he has contributed to building a new world society, to the extent which his ideals, or goals, have shaped that effort.” - Robert Kennedy, 1966
A New World Society
Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters. - Benjamin Franklin
This progress lead to America becoming one of the most highly mechanized societies in all the world. Education and civility went beyond the Gentlemen of Dickens but entered the hearts of the everyday people - each man took on his part. In turn, unlike the profiteer Crassus who extorted Romans through monopolizing the fire department, Franklin developed a volunteer system. This system spread to the development of Public Libraries, and many other similar social structures, and eventually culminated into the belief that common people could run government.

Today we relive that vision.

Our system is modeled after Franklin's Junto but instead of groups of 12 we use 8, for easier accounting and due to the shrinking of family sizes (families of 12 were not uncommon in those days). Indeed Franklin was one of seventeen, with little to inherit: he had to make it himself. These groups of 8 are to gather and initiate discussion as Franklin had intended, on Morals, Politics, or Science. Politics in these days was as much about the life of people, as it was over the concerns of just the magistrate.
After 50 minutes, we will call an election. Each person will receive a number, 1 through 8, and three numbers will be chosen at random. From those three 1 will be nominated to become their representative (with a coin flipped in the case of a tie). No more than 90 seconds will be permitted for campaigning, and votes can be secretly or publicly cast. For our online system, we will write down the name of our chosen on a piece of paper, and flip the pages over once all are ready.
This process repeats once more, making two representatives per table or team.
Thus 4 tables create 2 representatives each, forming a new table of 8. These 8 people, representing 32 in total, go on to engage in a similarly like-minded discussion, spread their cultural, scientific, moral, and political values - creating a harmony in the whole.
From these 8 two more will be nominated, and thus will conclude our first experiment in people leadership.
Thus there are two rounds:
Round 1 - Everyone competes, for 1 hour.
Round 2 - Representatives compete, for 1 hour.
And for so doing, for participating, for sacrificing an hour of your life for the betterment of the good, you will be rewarded - before the metaphysical, with money.
Cash money - cold coins - pieces of eight: bling.
Everyone who participates (with earnest) will receive 3 coins each - each of the 32 participants will receive 3 coins, and yes only 32 can join for the month of December, expanding to 128 for January.
Each representative will earn 12 coins. Thus 8 people will split 96 coins. Finally, the final 2 representatives will earn an additional 3 coins to each member of the table from which they originated - and will set agendas for the following month's study.
For a total prize pool of 480 coins, or Kennedys.
Kennedys Coin
Our coins are called Kennedys, named after JFK. Each will have a guaranteed minimum value of $0.50 USD, redeemable to our Patron Sponsor. Minimum redemption must be $20 with a maximum of $1,000 - one redemption per month. To sell your coins, just contact me and I will get you a Paypal or BTC transfer for a USD equivalent value.
Note: You do not HAVE to surrender your coins for $0.50, and indeed I encourage you to hold on to them as they might grow in value, but this is the MINIMUM value they will have. No coins will be sold to the public for less than $2 each.

However, there is a second prize.

From among the 32 registrants, 8 will be nominated as prime contributors, or honorees. These 8 will be put forth from the groups at large, thus one person might be nominated at each of the four tables simultaneously.
Once 8 unique names are chosen, per table, a similar voting process will repeat; until 8 unique names are selected by the groups as a whole (again two per table, save for the case of a tie or a repeat, in which it will be discarded and the next highest vote winner selected, or a coin flipped in the case of a tie).
The honorees will receive 12 coins each, for a total of 96. Finally, between the four groups, 2 groups must be decided as the groups which have contributed the most good, and will be awarded 50 coins, split 6.25 each. These prizes are issued by the people, similar to Swiss direct democratic rule.
In January the prize pool will about double.
For December, we have 872 Kennedys awarded, between 32 people, for an average of 27.25 coins each.
As these groups expand, the prize pools will grow, roughly doubling each month until we have 8,192 people within the competition, sometime around April.
Additional Information
Beginning February, when we have 512 people compete, we will start writing anonymous essays criticizing society, as a homage to Benjamin Franklin (limited to 1 page) or shall we say Silence Dogood. The prizes and structure changes per month, so please pay close attention for further details. By the month of June, we should be prepared to hold a campout in Tennessee, and all those are welcome to attend, up to approximately 10,000 people.
Discussions must be recorded using a video conferencing system and shared with the internet for education and verification, last approximately 1 hour, and be of the mind as that demonstrated by Benjamin Franklin. Discussion will last about 50 minutes, and representatives selection will comprise the final 10 minutes. Come January, this process will repeat, from a total of 128. While this all may seem quite confusing and overwhelming for now, breath and take one step at a time. For now, all you must do is join up, partner, and form a group of 8 - and make your Junto. If you'd prefer a more private board upon which to discuss, we have set aside Kennedyscoin.org for that purpose - as something of a 'safe space' to complement the anarchy and public ridicule of Reddit.
Please form and join teams early, as soon as possible. Once you have a team of 8 notify us, and we can start the group meetings. Once 4 meetings have been concluded, we will move on to round two. And finally, about a week after the initial meetings, and after conclusion of the representatives meeting, we will have one more quick recap for about 10 minutes to select honorees & group honors - and that's it. That will wrap it all up.

Rememberance

Still today, the legacy of Benjamin Franklin lives on. Many may recall the enormous endowments which he left Boston and Philadelphia of 1,000 pounds each, to gather interest for 200 years - worth over $8,000,000 dollars upon completion. Yet few recall the American Philosophical Society. In this regard, we hope to expand that vision to a growing, vastly growing number of people - to spread this cultural and educational sharing to a large number of people, potentially worldwide.
And to do so we have created Bitcoin 1776, a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin which we will use to send and transfer funds. These coins will serve as our seed money (along with Patron Sponsorship) to get this organization going. Furthermore, as we go along, perhaps others take notice and, who knows, perhaps the value of these collectibles grows into something more. For all our early participants, you will be rewarded. And I thank you for taking the time, expressing interest, and helping to push us forward along this process.
The way to be safe, is never to be secure
We live in a very uncertain world. Let us make it more clear.
Together we can:

Embolden Thy Will

What good have I done to-day?
Would you live with ease, do what you ought and not what you please - Benjamin Franklin
Our contests will repeat each month, December through May, with prizes of $15,000. Our projected schedule is as follows (subject to change):
  • December - 32 people, 4 groups, 872 coins total
  • January - 128 people, 16 groups, 1,504 coins total
  • February - 512 people, 64 groups, 3,040 coins total
  • March - 2,048 people, 256 groups, 4,864 coins total
  • April - 8,192 people, 1,024 groups, 10,296 coins total
  • May - 8,192 people, 1,024 groups, 9,552 coins total
  • June / July - Tennessee Campout up to 10,000 people, 7,840 coins total.
May the age of enlightenment be reborn.
Enjoy! Bitcoin 1776!

I think its time to call the B2X movement what it is - An attempt at regulatory capture.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulatory_capture
Regulatory capture is a form of government failure that occurs when a regulatory agency, created to act in the public interest, instead advances the commercial or political concerns of special interest groups that dominate the industry or sector it is charged with regulating.[1] When regulatory capture occurs, the interests of firms or political groups are prioritized over the interests of the public, leading to a net loss to society as a whole. Government agencies suffering regulatory capture are called "captured agencies".
In this scenario, we have 2 groups colluding to capture the regulatory capabilities of bitcoin. Bitcoin works by having separate groups working in harmony to the economic benefit for themselves and for the network and its owners/participants.
The miners, who's duty it is to order transactions and timestamp, do not have very much power over bitcoin as an individual group. They will not mine at a loss for any long period of times and the users of bitcoin via market mechanisms determine the price, and therefore the profitability of miners hashing.
But if miners collude with centralized financial hubs, e.g. exchanges, fiat bridges, market makers, etc, then this collusion presents a real regulatory capture attempt upon the bitcoin network. If exchanges refuse to process bitcoin transactions, or if large entities claim that bitcoin is not bitcoin and that the non-incumbent challenger is bitcoin, then this suppresses free will and free market mechanisms from naturally occuring within the marketplace and can have drastic effects upon outcome.
I ultimately believe the attempt will fail, but there is no guarantee that there will not be massive damages done to the ecosystem as the result of the takeover, just like when a country rebuffs an invasion from a hostile army, they do not come out of the war without wounds both physical, mental and socioeconomic.
I have been around this sub reading since late 2012, and participating since 2013. I have watched Jeff Garzik talk about bitcoin core being the modern version of the church, claiming that we are just trading Monarchs for "cabals of priests".
Except now Garzik has been elected the Pope of that church (B2X), and the parliament (DCG/Silbert & Friends + Miners) has been corrupted to support his actions, building a populist movement against science and academia. He is now the single developer of the B2X codebase and is so incompetent that he could not even get a single line code change correct without help from core, let alone rebase 0.15.x codebase to b2x, blaming non-existent bugs to hide his incompetence. And this is the same guy who just announced a 20% premined ICO for a altcoin that has even B2X supporters confused. Oh, and who invested in that premine? Yup, you got it! DCG Group!
So wait, the DCG group is funding a hostile takeover of the bitcoin project to install a single developer to control the codebase, colluding with a majority hashrate of miners to attack the network, without replay protection, all while funding a competitor?
Now, as we dig a little deeper, we find out that the majority of B2X proponents are funded by DCG, and DCG itself is basically a bankers cabal. Lets also not forget that DCG funded coinbase!
So we now have the largest financial $USD bridges that are operating as the platform to bridge bitcoin to $ colluding with centralized mining pools to force invalid rule changes upon the network.
Let us also not forget the multimillion deal between bitpay and bitmain and that bitpay used to be pro-core before this takeover.
Guys, this is so blatantly the biggest institutional driven threat bitcoin has ever seen. They are engaging in classic regulatory capture behavior attempting to centralize control by colluding with multiple factions that would normally balance each other. This is not very much different from the "Pillars of Democracy" (Federal, Executive, Judicial) balancing each other out for the best interests of the public. But just like democracy, a decentralized system can and will be captured if we allow complacency and apathy to dominate our behaviors.
Say what you will about Bitcoin Core and Blockstream, at least they adhere to cypherpunk principals. At least they engage in open and transparent actions and give users the free will by providing opt-in open source code.

(rant) The US Government being incompetently ran for decades lead me to buy bitcoin.

After the election, on top of Obama making very little headway in overturning corruption in our nation's government, and just a general sense that America's headed for a horrible future, is sort of what lead me to dumping my $USD and putting it into bitcoin.
I just don't see this country being a highly revered superpower in the world going forward. The $US dollar is the worlds reserve currency, but let's be honest, there's nothing to make it so that remains permanent in the world going forward.
I think what finally nudged me to dump my $USD as "my personal reserve currency" as a US citizen, was this tax bill. I watched before the 2000 election, the US Government was finally paying down it's debt, and seemed to have a decent set of fiscal priorities in order, drawing down it's military budget, a small increase in taxes on the wealthiest of households, the US was on a good path. That 1996-97 budget was something like the first time the US had balanced the budget since the 1980-1981 budget.
Then the 2000 election happened, I watched a tax cut in 2001, which was also the first time in 4 years we started again running up the debt. Old US debt clocks, which had been retired up to that point, were brought out of retirement. Then the nation got involved in two wars, with no real endgame for how the wars were supposed to be "won" and ended in America's best interests.
While fighting these wars, we again cut taxes. Logic dictates it is better to raise taxes and finance the wars outright, rather than borrow money to pay for our wars, but something in the American public had changed, we just weren't a responsible citizenry at electing politicians anymore.
Then that huge economic crisis happened in 2009. I was ENRAGED at the banks, who got the US Government to cut them a big fat check after they ruined our economy, instead of say helping American's who were being forced out of their homes and now had underwater mortgages due to buying homes during a big fat bubble. Not one banker was locked up.
I was so mad at the banks, that they'd give me a prepaid envelope for mailing in my credit card payment, but instead of putting the payment in, I'd put in a roofing shingle I bought at a Lowes, just to force the bank to pay out money for a credit card payment I'd send online anyways.
2011, the Republicans actually believed it was a valid political position for America to DEFAULT ON IT'S DEBT. I.E. AAA US Treasury bonds, reverting to "junk bond" status.
We suffered a credit downgrade as a result of this, supposedly something America had never experienced before.
The 2012 election happened, and I was curious that the Republicans pulled out a "debt clock" at the RNC convention, in a jab at Obama for further increasing our nation's debt. Why are you rolling out a debt clock, when just a year ago you didn't even seem like you wanted to pay down the debt at all?
I guess they weren't counting on me knowing that we haven't had a Republican President complete a term of presidency with less debt than he inherited since Richard Nixon's first term.
I was like "Ok...well, the Republicans NOW care about the debt. I guess that's good!"
2016 rolls around, I see the shit candidate they put forward, and elect.
It's 2017, only 5 years after the Republicans rolled out their debt clock at their RNC convention. And now they're trying to pass a tax cut bill, which will force the US Treasury, at a time of $20 trillion in debt, to issue another $1.5 trillion in bonds, basically a massive borrowing spree by our government, to give tax cuts to already extremely wealthy people.
I watch this country just get raped, over and over again, and I finally had it.
If the country as a whole has absolutely no interest in running a fiscally sane government, why should I hold $USD as "my personal reserve currency"?
If I won't hold $USD as my personal reserve currency, how far away are we from other countries dumping their $USD as a reserve currency?

I've put together a post that has, what I think, is all the possible (english) information on SmartContainers' ICO out there

Okay, so this is going to be really long in terms of posts here. I actually have to cut out some info to make it under 40000 characters for reddit...
Typically in the market there are Currency and Utility coins. Profit-Share Tokens are relatively new, and while this ICO has 2 tokens, the profit share token is definitely the main attraction, as it's tied to a very, very promising company. This company is SmartContainers Group, and their tokens are SMARC (profit-share token) and LOGI (more on LOGI later).
“Smart Containers Group, formerly REP AG (Swiss registry of commerce, UID: CHE- 141.664.882), is a Swiss based, high tech company that provides the safest temperature controlled containers to transport sensitive pharma goods and food around the world. Our purpose is to secure sensitive goods and to make sure no compromised product is ever delivered to anyone.” - whitepaper

Product

SmartContainers Group is a holding company for SkyCell.
SkyCell is the company Smart Containers Group uses to rent/sell their containers to clients around the world.
Our containers transport some of the most expensive and temperature-sensitive goods in the pharmaceutical industry. These goods need a particularly careful and accurate protection. Through our highly secure and efficient container design, we assure the best possible protection against temperature excursions. In combination with a cutting-edge technology, it enables us to provide containers with easy handling, maximum loading capacity and highest performance on the market.
More than 50 man-years of research and development poured into the creation of an unprecedented, highly efficient insulation. This cutting-edge technology reflects a maximum of radiation while minimizing heat conducting. It is the most patent protected insulation technology on the market.
The ingenious SkyCell R&D team invented a completely new, cooling technology, that stores five times more energy than traditional methods to keep the container at a steady temperature. Consequently, SkyCell containers are automatically recharged in a cooling chamber without any manual interference. Nothing can be mixed up since all parts are integrated and fixed.
The ingenious SkyCell R&D team invented a completely new, cooling technology, that stores five times more energy than traditional methods to keep the container at a steady temperature.

“oh, our product needs better cooling? Okay, let’s just invent a better cooling technology, no biggie”. Who heads that team, Rick Sanchez?
I asked about this tech during their AMA, here's what they said:
Cooling technology: Yes, our containers are state of the art. Nico has developed a cooling material that freezes at 5.5°C. So if you put it in a cooling chamber that has a lower temperature, it automatically freezes and if the temperature is higher it melts. Basically, the system works like a huge ice cube that is empty in the middle. The centre of the ice cube has a steady temperature of 0° until at least 1 side of the ice cube has melted. It's the same principle for SkyCell containers, but at 5.5°C

The patented-in house developed cooling technology stores five times more energy than traditional methods to keep the container at a consistent temperature. After use, they are ‘recharged’ in a cooling chamber without any need for manual intervention, increasing productivity of the business and reducing cost.
I’ve forgotten to mention something so far about their product [the containers]. They’re literally (not figuratively, literally) the most advanced container ON EARTH.

From their ICO FAQ: Where do you position yourself compared to Envirotainer? Envirotainer is the number one container company with the largest container fleet today. We are currently fourth globally, but we reached this position in less than 5 years operating in this space. SkyCell containers have been tested and shown to be technologically superior to Envirotainer containers (5x more runtime, up to 35% lighter) which translates into safer pharma distribution and cost savings as well as a reduced CO2 footprint.

We are currently fourth globally, but we reached this position in less than 5 years operating in this space.

Another thing that’s pretty impressive, 4th largest company in their entire field… after just 5 years… but back to the main point of that statement: “SkyCell containers have been tested and shown to be technologically superior to Envirotainer containers (5x more runtime, up to 35% lighter) which translates into safer pharma distribution and cost savings as well as a reduced CO2 footprint.”.

Watching a video from a blockchain conference in Switzerland, I got a fair bit of info from the CEO, Richard. I’ll be quoting him in that video a few times in this post, and here’s the first: “In my industry, we talk about how many shipments go wrong - and the average is 8.5%. So for 8.5% of pharma shipments for example, the [proper] temperature is not maintained. In our case [with Smart Containers], it’s less than 0.1%. That’s 75 times better. Richard also speaks in this video about how they will be able to eliminate the amount of shipments happening every year, due to the decentralized nature of this whole system, there will be less need to send packages to places far from their end destination, to make the delivery easier on the shipping side. We’ve all had packages come from across the ocean, only for it to fly 1500 Km past us to be shipped back our way next week…

LogiChain

”There are 200 documents are required, or exchanged, to make one shipment happen… we estimate we can bring this down to 8” Richard Ettl, CEO
Logistics is an old industry. it started out on paper, moved through the fax, early ages of the information era, early email, current email, and is now ready to move onto the blockchain.
LOGI CHAIN GOALS

“By using blockchain technology, we can decentralize logistics and create autonomous containers – container 4.0. This container will know who’s renting it, when the contract ends and when to invoice the customer. That’s why we’ve created the LOGI CHAIN platform. It allows us to create a seamless, fully integrated, digital logistics process that everyone can use for free.” - Richard Ettl, CEO
“Well-established processes often generate inefficiencies that we simply accept. And of course everyone knows change is painful. But at Smart Containers, we see things differently. Change is the only way to improve. We think that every process should not only be optimized but redefined and redesigned. Logistics today is highly centralized. It’s incredibly inefficient. So many wasted kilometers to huge warehouses.” Nico Ros, CTO

There will be more than one blockchain at play with this system as well. The info that people deserve to know will be available on a public blockchain like Ethereum, the weight, material safety data sheets, the storage conditions (which as said up above, 8.5% of pharma shipments have issues with, and Smart Containers brings that down to below 0.1%), as well as at the same time, the info that shouldn’t be public to everyone (Bills, invoices, etc) would be stored on a blockchain like Fabric or HyperLedger. LOGI will be the fuel for the LOGI Chain.
CMO Carla elaborating on LogiChain:
The LOGI project finds good echoes with logistics players but even more with blockchain infrastructures like NEM, EOS and NEO.
Emirates for once was enthusiastic about the project and definitely wants to join the foundation. As you know, the government of Dubai is focussing on applying blockchain asap to multiple industries.
We are also in exchange with ShipChain, who are running a similar project in the US. Our goal is to collaborate with a maximum of projects around the world.
The LOGI Chain Foundation will be set up in July, right at the end of the ICO. Dr. Fabian Schär, our valued Advisor, will be in charge of defining how the LOGI Chain Foundation will develop in the next 2-3 years. We think that we will be able to put out a PoC based on SkyCell until the end of the year.
We have not yet decided on which blockchain platform to build the LOGI CHAIN. We are highly delighted with NEM since they are already operative and offer a private and public blockchain on the same protocol.

One Chain to Connect them all - LOGI CHAIN
One platform to get all players up to speed, to handle all documents and permissions in one place. No more floods of emails. No more polluting the environment with senseless printing of documents. No more compatibility problems and clashes of individualized systems.
To show you how vast the amount of documents (and by this emails circulated) find a list of common documents needed for one air freight shipment below:
Documents of origin, Material safety sheet, Airway bill, Bill of lading, Transport order, Customs declaration documents & bills, Invoices, Product data sheet, Storage conditions, Transport conditions, Multiple service provider billings, Licenses, etc.
This adds up to the gigantic number of about 200 manually processed emails per shipment.
A combination of public and permission based chains will allow for all players in the ecosystem to store documents needed in the logistics processes. We are looking at multiple platforms to build the LOGI CHAIN on top including NEM, Fabric, Corda, EOS and NEO.

Team

I’ll be using bits and pieces taken from their white paper and LinkedIn pages.
The Smart Containers team includes over 80 people, and is growing every year.
Richard Ettl - Co-Founder, CEO - LinkedIn
Richard wanted to know how things worked since he was a child. He has a passion for engineering and management. Growing up in Vienna, Austria and studying in Stanford USA and the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, he started his career at Bobst Group, a leading producer of packaging machines worldwide. In 2009, he decided to launch his own business together with his university friend Nico. After wide reaching scientific research and various proof of concepts, they founded today’s Smart Containers Group as well as SkyCell in 2012. Since then he has lead the companies to commercial success, seamlessly finding the right partners and investors at crucial points, as well as convincing more and more clients of the unrivaled benefits of the SkyCell offer

Nico Ros - Co-Founder, CTO - LinkedIn
Nico Ros, Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder Nico is the mastermind behind Smart Containers Group and its technology. Growing up in Basel, Switzerland, he discovered his passion for mathematics very early on and therefore came to study mathematics, physics and engineering. Being a natural talent, he had already won prestigious architectural prizes during his studies and quickly became managing partner at ZPF an engineering company in Basel. He has constructed the most expensive buildings in Switzerland in collaboration with the famous architects Herzog & DeMeuron. Nico’s key strength lies not only in his state of the art engineering know how but also in his efficient management of teams, leading highly complex, multimillion projects to success. However, engineering alone did not suffice Nico. Having a passion for business and management, he decided to complete additional studies at the University of Fribourg, meeting Richard along the way. Everyone who meets Nico rapidly becomes aware of his sharp mind and his passion to invent new technologies. It is therefore not surprising, that both him and Richard ended up together where they are today.

Andreas Ernst - CFO - LinkedIn
Andreas is the true logistic finance expert in the company. He spent all his career in various finance roles of logistic service providers: from Swissair (today Swiss International Airlines), to Swissport (biggest ground service provider for airlines) where he filled the role as regional CFO for the Middle East and Africa. His last role before joining Smart Containers Group was CFO of Unitpool (now called Unilode), which is the largest independent air-freight container pooling company in the world.

Thomas Taroni - Head of IT - LinkedIn
Thomas is an IT-architecture mastermind. His first claim to fame is the creation of the largest media database, shared by all media houses in Switzerland: more than two million articles are uploaded every year, then queried and shared seamlessly and efficiently among multiple news companies. He founded his own IT company to design IT architectures focusing on process automation (eliminating paper and endless emails), and as a result won other clients (large banks, pharma companies and even publicly tendered government contracts). SkyCell became his client, when they needed a bespoke asset management system to track and trace their containers around the world. He joined SkyCell four years ago and since his tenure, has become the head of IT for all companies of Smart Containers Group.

Carla Bünger - CMO & Business Development Manager - LinkedIn
Carla is a marketing and sales expert. Building strong brands on solid foundations and convincing clients to buy its underlying products gives her huge satisfaction. She collected her experience through managing various international consumer brands, for companies such as Nestlé, Lindt and Coty. However, she discovered her passion for Blockchain technology roughly 18 months ago and has since been actively participating in the com - munity of Crypto Valley in Switzerland. The sheer endless application possibilities make her strive for more and she is drawing energy and enthusiasm from developing new business schemes around the subject. Her “can do” attitude helped to put together the high level advisory team around our ICO.

Advisors

Strategic advisor: Oliver Bussmann, is CEO and Founder of Bussmann Advisory, former CIO of UBS and SAP as well as the President of the Crypto Valley Association. “our main advisor” - Richard
Strategic advisor: Marc Bettinger, Altcoin and Blockchain specialist and investor, Co-Host Altcoin Meetup Switzerland (Bitcoin Association Switzerland)
Strategic Advisor: Fabian Schär is Managing Director of the Center for Innovative Finance at the University of Basel. His research focus is on the potential and applications of blockchain. In addition, he works as a lecturer in blockchain technology at the University of Basel, the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich (HWZ) and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW).

Technology Partner: Lykke Corp. our highly trustworthy expert in smart contract programming and ICO execution. (Lykke also audited their ICO smartcontract)
Legal Advisor: Gabriela Hauser-Spuehler was part of the team of MME, the well-known law firm in the crypto space.
Communication Advisor: David Wachsman and Emma Walker from Wachsman PR, the crypto community’s most experienced PR agency.
Richard also states they hired a lawyer that worked on the Ethereum ICO, but I don’t know if it’s Gabriela up there or another person.

Tokens

Min. investment = $500 USD for ICO, $5000 for presale (largest portion of supply), $250k for private sale.
There are two tokens as mentioned before: SMARC and LOGI. I’m more into SMARC because it’s safe (safe once the payouts start of course, as soon as a coin has a clear value like this, BTC moving up or down doesn’t matter to you), as well as obviously very attractive if you think of the long term profits.

Every year, the company’s annual shareholder meeting takes place, during which the shareholders will agree (or negotiate) on a proposal by the Smart Containers’ board about how much of the company profits is to be paid to the shareholders that year. 20% of that amount is taken, converted to ETH, and fairly distributed to the token holders.
Since the cofounders and all token holders will have aligned interests and incentives, we are all in a positive-sum-game. We do not want to use the ICO as a speculative springboard, but as way of funding innovation and change the world. Both Richard and Nico are committed for the long-term and not interested in a quick exit. Our aim is to use the collected funds to continue pushing the following business areas:
• Continue scaling of SkyCell in both B2B and B2C
• Establish FoodGuardians - the main goal if the ICO is to build and scale FoodGuardians
• Establish the of LOGI CHAIN Foundation
• Regularly evaluate organic scaling vs. M&A
• Evaluate IPO at relevant time
We are raising funds through an ICO to grow our container businesses in pharma and food. We push SkyCell from no. 4 to the no. 1 provider in the next 2-3 years.

The CEO in this video explains pretty easily why one would want to put money into this ICO over others:
“Why invest? [referring to SMARC] Simple question. It’s an up and coming company with revenue, multiple millions a year, most ICO’s have white papers…[we have much more than that].”
That's pretty clear. You can invest in random Xcoin ICO where they have some half-baked token that might see some level of adoption if it isn't just a cash grab, or you could invest in an actual multimillion-dollar company and be a part of it as it scales into what could potentially be a multibillion dollar entity.

The following is taken from the ICO, Legal, and Company FAQ

How will the profit share payouts work? 20% of dividends will be paid in ETH to all holders of SMARC tokens that are in circulation at the time of the payout. A given business year ends on 31st December each year with a general assembly held annually around mid-February. Therefore, dividend payout is expected around mid-March each year. In the event of a total sale of Smart Containers or the exit of one of its lines of business, the holders of SMARC tokens will receive a 20% participation of proceeds

Is there a future profit statement? No listed company can make an estimation or a commitment to a future return. To do so would neither be professional nor ethical. For Smart Containers, as with any company, profits may often depend upon a number of external factors, such as the general trust in blockchain technology. The question to be assessed is how fast a new disruptive technology can replace an old system. We believe that Smart Containers Group is well-positioned to facilitate this disruption, with a strong plan going forward and experienced team working to successfully implement blockchain technology in the supply chain. 5 years of industry experience, the 4th largest container fleet and a motivated team; that’s more than any idea whitepaper ICO.

What specific rights come with my investment? The SMARC token is a profit share token. When the company generates profits and the company’s general assembly approves a dividend payout, 20% of the defined funds attributed to dividends will be distributed proportionally to holders of SMARC tokens in circulation. In contrast, the LOGI token is a utility token that can be used to pay for transactions on the LOGI CHAIN, an open-source logistics platform for all stakeholders in the logistics field with the goal to create a seamless, fully integrated, digital logistics process.

Smart Containers will pay out a dividend to SMARC token holders. This would imply that the SMARC token is a security token. Are you compliant with financial regulation? Smart Containers tokens is not classified as a security in Switzerland under current law. This may be different in other jurisdictions such as the USA. Hence the SMARC token is not eligible for sale in certain jurisdictions. Our benchmark is the Modum token sale from June 2017. We have elected to use the same legal structure as it was accepted by regulators in Switzerland and well received by the ICO community and exchanges.

What is the vesting schedule for team and advisors tokens? Everyone will receive SMARC and LOGI tokens at the same time. Minting will occur at the end of the token sale. Advisors will have lock up periods depending on how many tokens they receive. Team members have a lock up period of 12 months.

Are SkyCell containers an approved ULD according to IATA regulations? SkyCell containers are exempt from the ULD rules by IATA. This has the huge advantage that, compared to our competitors, the SkyCell container can not only fly but can also leave the airport. Skycell containers are therefore a door-to-door solution. Our competitors’ containers, on the other hand, have to be unloaded at the airport and packed into a new transport unit in order to continue their journey from the airport to the final destination, increasing the risk of temperature excursion, and loss.

Are there financial statements? If so, are they audited, and by whom? Yes, there are financial statements for all our companies. They are audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). To preserve our competitive advantage in the market, we have decided not to publish our financial figures online at this moment in time.

Are Modum and Smart Containers competitors? Modum and Smart Containers are not competitors, more future partners. Modum rents/sells sensors to track and trace shipments on temperature, whereas Smart Containers rents/sells the containers, in which products including sensors are put inside. Of course our containers have sensors that record data for quality control, but Smart Containers does not sell these data sets. In the end Modum and Smart Containers will address to the same clients - Smart Containers provides the container and Modum will put a sensor in it.

How many airlines fly SkyCell containers? In addition to our major partners, Emirates and CargoLux, more than 30 airlines fly SkyCell containers.

What destinations does SkyCell serve? SkyCell is a global company. We are shipping containers around the world and reach each pharma client within 24-48 hours. This is accomplished through our airline partners, that can fly ready-to-use containers to more than 150 airports.

Profit Sharing Mechanism

During the annual shareholder meeting, the shareholders in the form of the general assembly (Annual General Assembly) decide on a proposal by Smart Containers’ board regarding the usage of profit as recognized in the annual financial statements of Smart Containers in the form of distribution of dividends. Distribution of a dividend on shares shall be announced in the “Tokenholder Information” section of the Smart Containers website; such announcement shall include the date and time of the dividend payment and the dividend amount per ordinary share in USD as well as the ETH/USD exchange rate which shall become applicable, as derived from publicly available and reliable quotes. Within 20 business days of the date of the resolution passed by the Annual General Assembly regarding dividend payments to the shareholders of Smart Containers, Smart Containers will make available a Profit Share Amount to each authenticated Tokenholder equal to 20% (twenty percent) of all dividends agreed to being distributed per share to the shareholders, divided by the total number of issued SMARC Tokens (To further explain for clarity, all Tokenholders combined will receive an amount equal to 20% of the amount received by all shareholders combined.). SMARC Tokenholders shall receive these payments in ETH, at an average exchange rate specified by Smart Containers.

FoodGuardians

“Imagine your tomatoes tasting 1 day ‘fresher”.
One of the main reasons for the SMARC/LOGI ICO is to raise the funds to fuel the growth of FoodGuardians alongside SkyCell.
According to their CEO, SkyCell is constantly asked “can your containers be used for food?”, but there are several issues with shipping food and medicine together. This is where FoodGuardians comes in.
FoodGuardians offers the next generation of reusable containers and boxes to transport regionally and globally temperature sensitive food products. The combination of patented cooling technology, cutting edge insulation and Blockchain infrastructure allows to redefine the product’s freshness and traceability.
Our vision is to allow your local butcher to order your favorite steak directly from the producing farm and sending it straight to your grill party. (All without the buyer even leaving his home, let alone going to store)

Advantages of using FoodGuardians

Each FoodGuardians container can be tracked around the world on:

The phrase “Imagine your tomatoes tasting 1 day ‘fresher” has been used by the CEO a couple times, and is more or less the FoodGuardian slogan. This is referring to the fact that not only can FoodGuardian and SkyCell containers save cost, CO2, and man/brainpower, but they can also make shipments faster when combined with the blockchain (LOGI Chain) and Smart Contracts. when everything is accounted for at every second with almost as little room for human error as possible, things are far more efficient.
We are launching our first food application – we will announce a collaboration before June for a solution that can be used to ship overnight online fresh food to people homes and can be used to supply hospitals and restaurants as well.
FoodGuardians and SkyCell are two of the many possible use-cases for SmartContainers' tech:
"Other use cases. Yes indeed. We are just getting started!! However, it makes sense to focus on scaling SkyCell and FoodGuardians before starting something new. In the end we are a tech company. We have defined 7 use cases around the insulation technology. We have started with the most relevant 2 but will certainly continue."

SkyCellONE

SkyCell is looking to bring a business-to-consumer solution to market, that was developed and tested with one of the top 20 pharma companies in the world. The direct to patient market is estimated to increase to a 2.5 billion USD market in the future, with no other competition yet aside from styrofoam containers that are disposed of after one use. The SkyCell ONE can also be co-branded by a partner, such as a pharmacy chain that could rent it out for home delivery, business trips or even holidays.
The product is temperature stable for up to 72 hours, can be recharged passively in a fridge, or temp-controlled warehouse or truck. Currently it’s best in class for size and weight, but that’s probably down to there being no competition! Trials have been undergoing since June 2017 with an orphan drug product, and go live is expected in Q2 2018. - Cryptowithoutborders article
The SkyCell ONE container is showcased HERE
THIS could be a massive money maker. There is currently no direct pharma-2-consumer shipping service, because it really wasn’t profitable, or manageable on a central database. They can even sell this product to other supply chain entities to use. The direct to patient market is estimated to increase to a 2.5 billion USD market in the future, with no other competition yet, aside from styrofoam containers that get disposed of after a single
Q&A: Smart Containers’ Richard Ettl on Blockchain, Pharma, and how His Company’s Hardware and Software is Disrupting the Logistics Industry - Nexchange.com
We are launching also additional sizes – so we are launching a very small box to ship pharma directly to patients' homes. Amazon just recently announced that they will postpone entering the pharma distribution space, as they do not have the technology to ship to patients homes in a temperature controlled manner. We are bringing this to market later this year. This will increase the convenience of patients and reduce the costs in the healthcare system.

Organs

I just finished listening to this podcast (20 minutes long, but you can skip the intro stuff to make it shorter of course). I’m now twice as excited as I was before. I’m going to type out a large chunk of the podcast. I’ll be paraphrasing slightly, so I don’t have to type every “uhh” or anything, plus he sometimes starts one sentence before finishing another.
“We have some prototypes, that we built, for example, for the Children’s Hospital here in Zurich, where we’ve designed a container that can transport living skin.” [Interviewer; “Wow.”] “So for young children that suffer skin diseases that could be almost fatal, like cancer, they grow this… patch of skin, and then that skin needs to be transported, and kept at body temperature so… roughly 37 degrees Celsius. There we designed them a box that did this for 10 days, autonomously.” [“That’s amazing…”] “Yeah, we did this because we wanted to learn how to interact and work with hospitals, this is a highly specialized application, and the next step could be organ logistics, because most of the organs today are transported on ice, because that’s the standard set in the 70’s, but studies have shown that if your transport certain tissue at room temperature, it is significantly better for the tissue than if you transport it on ice.”
I can guarantee you every major hospital on earth is going to want their hands on this container that can allow them to transport both living skin, and potentially organs in the future. The fact that in this day and age we’re still throwing people’s kidneys/lungs/etc in a bucket of ice is a little weird.
From the recent AMA:
Our Container BT5: The name stands for Body Temperature 5 L content. It transports skin grafts that was cultured for children with burn accidends. The temperature range is 37°c. Nico (our CTO) was so taken by this project, that he developped this container only for this purpose for a company calles Cutiss (a start-up from Zurich). We currently only have around 10 of these containers in use. It is not produced in on a large scale. We could market it, but have bigger opportunities to tackle first with the SkyCell one. You can only focus on 1-2 projects at a time. The BT5 is a beautiful project, but will need manpower to scale production and then manpower to market it.

Competition

Envirotainer, The leading company in this field, has only a matter of time before they’re overtaken. SmartContainer Group’s containers are proven to be superior (5x as efficient, 35% lighter, self-charging, etc, etc, read up above for the whole deal). According to the Googles, Envirotainer’s best year (2015) saw a profit of $50,000,000. It’s logical to assume that Smartcontainers will surpass them as the top dog, and at the same time be pulling in much more profit over time by serving both pharma, and the food industry (Envirotainer only does pharma). By accepting cryptocurrency payments, saving them a fair bit in fees from cross border payments, they’ll also net a small % more in profits annually.
I asked about the state of their competition. Turns out, Envirotainer (or more specifically the private equity firm that owns them) offered SmartContainers a buy out of $125m. This was one of countless offers they've turned down, because they believe they can scale the company to much further value. The firm selling Envirotainer has been trying to find a buying for the past 3 years, at $1b. No one will buy them, because anyone who knows their shit in that industry knows SmartContainers will overtake them in no time.
From April's AMA:
Our 2 biggest competitors are for sale. Envirotainer (biggest player) is owned by a Private Equity company that wants to sell it for 1 b USD. it already tries to sell for 3 years. SkyCell is considered a threat to the valuation of Envirotainer, since we are winning one client after the other from them. While Envirotainer is the largest player with a huge sales force and well established client contacts, they are still operating on an "old" technology. SkyCell is technology leader, has lighter containers, reduces CO2 emissions and is considered to be the future.
2 days ago, a private equity company requested a meeting to see the valuation of SkyCell and evaluate to buy. We have already been approached several times. We are treated as the bride in the market. However, Richard and Nico think we can scale the business much more before we should consider to sell. We are just getting started.
We have won 3 large accounts in Q1. Today we have 1200 containers. By the end of the year, it will be 2000. Our business plan estimates that SkyCell will be profitable in 2019. Therefore you can expect first dividends in Q1 2020.

Official Projections

Another redditor asked for "optimistic expectations for potential profits" during their ama, here was their answer:
How does a profit of 21 m USD on Smart Containers total in 2020 sound? This figure will then quadruple in 2021 to 76 m USD.
As you can see, this would mean that by 2021 tokenholders would not even have broken even yet. I myself am fine with this, i'm expecting to hold SMARC until the end (be it I die or the company sells, in which case i'll enjoy that fat exit payout). The potential gains from 2020-2030 are far more worth it to me than trying to make it in one year with heavy risk.
So why invest in this over a random shitcoin that might moon? If you're here to turn $1000 into $1m and get out by the end of the year, good luck, don't invest in smarc. If you're realistic and are aware that crypto will only be so volatile for so long, go ahead and think about putting a bit of your portfolio in something that will have actual value, lasting long after the shitcoins die. Crypto market could crash at any time, but that doesn't mean that SmartContainers as a company goes anywhere, nor their profits. I don't think I need to explain any further.

So…

A 5 year old company, with over 100,000 collective hours of R&D put into their products, with currently just under 100 innovative patents, that is already the 4th largest of it’s kind in the world, with the top product in their field on earth, is doing an ICO that is fully backed by the Swiss government, with a token that is due 20% of all future shareholder payouts, as well as 20% of any potential exit profits (the company being purchased). They’re already this big, and you can benefit from both their success, and their expansion into new markets.
There’s nothing stopping SmartContainers Group/SkyCell/FoodGuardians from working with VeChain in the future either. Or Walton, or Wabi, Devery, OriginTrail, Ambrosus, all of em.

Should you invest in this? I sure am, and am very glad to even be offered the opportunity, but it’s up to you. Read through this post if you haven't yet, then click these links and decide for yourself. Don't go all in of course, since this is a profit share token, there is much less risk, therefore less short term reward. The long term reward is what we're looking at here, don't buy into the ICO and then complain that you aren't getting 1000% ROI payouts by year one.

Only 2 days left to whitelist for SMARC ICO, an ICO for a profit-share token being held by an already multi-million dollar company.

- Credit to Haramburglar for this post, and for giving me the notepad file he wrote it in so I could share it where I wished, without even asking for credit

S&P Futures Slide, Europe Jumps As Traders Beg For End To Turbulent Week

There is a sense of almost detached resignation amid trading desks as we enter the last trading day of a chaotic, volatile week that has whipsawed and stopped out virtually everyone after the Nasdaq saw the biggest intraday reversal since Thursday and pattern and momentum trading has become impossible amid one headline tape-bomb after another.
After yesterday furious tumble and sharp, last hour rebound, US equity futures are once again lower expecting fresh developments in the Huawei CFO arrest and trade war saga while today's payroll report may redirect the Fed's tightening focus in wage growth comes in hotter than the 3.1% expected; at the same time European stocks have rebounded from their worst day in more than two years while Asian shares posted modest gains as investors sought to end a bruising week on a more upbeat note. While stock trading was far calmer than Thursday, signs of stress remained just below the surface as the dollar jumped, Treasuries rose and oil whipsawed amid fears Iran could scuttle today's OPEC deal.

The MSCI All-Country World Index, which tracks shares in 47 countries, was up 0.3% on the day, on track to end the week down 2%.
After Europe's Stoxx 600 Index sharp drop on Thursday, which tumbled the most since the U.K. voted to leave the EU in 2016, Friday saw Europe's broadest index jump 1.2% as every sector rallied following the cautious trade in the Asia-Pac session and the rebound seen on Wall Street where the Dow clawed back nearly 700 points from intraday lows. European sectors are experiencing broad-based gains with marginal outperformance in the tech sector as IT names bounce back from yesterday’s Huawei-driven slump.

Technology stocks lead gains on Stoxx 600 Index, with the SX8P Index up as much as 2.3%, outperforming the 1.1% gain in the wider index; Nokia topped the sector index with a 5.9% advance in Helsinki after Thursday’s public holiday, having missed out on initial gains from rival Huawei’s troubles that earlier boosted Ericsson. Inderes said the arrest of Huawei CFO over potential violations of American sanctions on Iran will benefit Nokia and Ericsson, who are the main rivals of Huawei and ZTE. Similarly, Jefferies wrote in a note on Chinese networks that China may have to offer significant concessions to buy Huawei an “out of jail” card and reach a trade deal, with China’s tech subsidies and “buy local” policies potentially under attack. "For example, why would Nokia and Ericsson have only 20% share in China’s 4G market," analysts wrote.
Meanwhile, energy names were volatile as the complex awaits further hints from the key OPEC+ meeting today. In terms of individual movers, Fresenius SE (-15.0%) fell to the foot of the Stoxx 600 after the company cut medium-term guidance, citing lower profit expectations at its clinics unit Helios and medical arm Fresenius Medical Care (-7.8%). The news sent Fresenius BBB- rated bonds tumbling, renewing fears of a deluge of "fallen angels." On the flip side, Bpost (+7.5%) and Tesco (+4.8%) are hovering near the top of the pan-Europe index amid broker upgrades.
Earlier in the session, Japanese equities outperformed as most Asian gauges nudged higher. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan nudged up 0.2%, though that followed a 1.8 percent drubbing on Thursday. Japan’s Nikkei added 0.8 percent. Chinese shares, which were up earlier in the day, slipped into negative territory with the blue chips off 0.1 percent.

E-Mini futures for the S&P 500 also started firmer but were last down 0.4 percent. Markets face a test from U.S. payrolls data later in the session amid speculation that the U.S. economy is heading for a tough patch after years of solid growth.
Will the last employment report released this year (the December report comes out in early January) help markets to continue to form a base? The consensus for nonfarm payrolls today is for a 198k print, following the stronger-thanexpected 250k reading last month. Average hourly earnings are expected to rise +0.3% mom which should be enough to keep the annual reading at +3.1% yoy while the unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 3.7%. DB's economists are more or less in line with the consensus with a 200k forecast and also expect earnings to climb +0.3% mom, however that would be consistent with a small tick up in the annual rate to +3.17% and the fastest pace since April 2009. They also expect the current pace of job growth to push the unemployment rate down to 3.6% which would be the lowest since December 1969.
Meanwhile, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell confused traders when late on Thursday, he emphasized the strength of the labor market, throwing a wrench into trader expectations the Fed is poised to pause tightening - arguably the catalyst for Thursday's market-closing ramp following a WSJ article which reported Fed officials were considering whether to signal a new wait-and-see mentality after a likely rate increase at their meeting in December.

While Friday's market has stabilized, for many the recent gyrations are just too much. For Dennis Debusschere, head of portfolio strategy at Evercore ISI, there’s still far too much risk to wade back into a market this riven by volatility. “Overall still untradeable in our opinion, until we get more clarity on trade and we think it will pay to wait this out,” he wrote in a note to clients Thursday. “That being said, our desk is open for business if you’re feeling up to trading this backdrop.”
Meanwhile, the big question is what happens next year: “The big question mark still is what’s going to happen in 2019” with the Fed, Omar Aguilar, CIO of equities and multi-asset strategies at Charles Schwab, told Bloomberg TV. “The jobs report could easily be the catalyst that will tell us a little more about what the path may be.”
Expecting that a big slowdown is coming, interest rate futures rallied hard in massive volumes with the market now pricing in less than half a hike next year, compared to just a month ago when they had been betting on more than two increases. Treasuries extended their blistering rally, driving 10-year yields down to a three-month trough at 2.8260 percent, before last trading at 2.8863 percent. Yields on two-year notes fell a huge 10 basis points at one stage on Thursday and were last at 2.75 percent. Investors also steamrolled the yield curve to its flattest in over a decade, a trend that has historically presaged economic slowdowns and even recessions.
The seismic shock spread far and wide. Yields on 10-year paper sank to the lowest in six months in Germany, almost 12 months in Canada and 16 months in Australia. Italian debt climbed as European bonds largely drifted.
The greenback advanced against most of its Group-of-10 peers ahead of U.S. jobs data that are expected to show hiring slowed last month. The pound fell as U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May was said to be weighing a plan to postpone the vote on her Brexit deal.
In commodity markets, gold firmed to near a five-month peak as the dollar eased and the threat of higher interest rates waned. Spot gold stood 0.1 percent higher at $1,239.49 per ounce. Oil was less favored, however, falling further as OPEC delayed a decision on output cuts while awaiting support from non-OPEC heavyweight Russia. Brent futures fell 0.5 percent to $59.77 a barrel, while U.S. crude also lost half a percent to $51.19. Cryptocurrencies continued their collapse with fresh losses after U.S. regulators dashed hopes that a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund would appear before the end of this year.

Top Overnight News from Bloomberg
Asian stocks saw cautious gains with the region getting an early tailwind after the sharp rebound on Wall St, where most majors inished lower albeit off worse levels as tech recovered and the DJIA clawed back nearly 700 points from intraday lows. ASX 200 (+0.4%) and Nikkei 225 (+0.8%) were both higher at the open but gradually pared some of the gains as the risk tone began to turn cautious heading into today’s key-risk NFP jobs data. Hang Seng (-0.3%) and Shanghai Comp (U/C) were indecisive amid further PBoC inaction in which it remained net neutral for a 5th consecutive week and with the upcoming Chinese trade data over the weekend adding to tentativeness, while pharmaceuticals were the worst hit due to concerns of price declines from the government’s centralized procurement program. Finally, 10yr JGBs were flat amid a similar picture in T-note futures and although early selling pressure was seen in Japanese bonds alongside the strong open in stocks, prices later recovered as the risk appetite somewhat dissipated.

European equities extended on gains from the cash open (Eurostoxx 50 +1.2%) following the cautious trade in the Asia-Pac session and the rebound seen on Wall St where the Dow clawed back nearly 700 points from intraday lows. In commodities, WTI (+0.2%) and Brent (+0.9%) are choppy in what was a volatile session thus far as comments from energy ministers emerged ahead of the key OPEC+ meeting, after yesterday’s OPEC talks ended with no deal for the first time in almost five years. Brent rose after source reports noted that Moscow are ready to cut output by 200k BPD (below OPEC’s desire of 250k-300k but above Russia’s prior “maximum” of 150k) if OPEC are willing to curb production by over 1mln BPD. Prices then fell to session lows following a less constructive tone from Saudi Energy Minister who reiterated that he is not confident there will be a deal today, which came after delegates noted that OPEC talks are focused on a combined OPEC+ cut of 1mln BPD (650k from OPEC and 350k from Non-OPEC). Markets are awaiting the start of the OPEC+ meeting after delegates stated that talks are at deadlocked as Iran appears to be the main sticking point to an OPEC deal, though sources emerged stating that Iran, Venezuela and Libya are set to get exemptions from cuts, adding that OPEC and Russia are looking for a symbolic production commitment from Iran as fears arise that Iran may not be able to follow-through on curb pledges due to US sanctions. In terms of metals, gold hovers around session highs and is set for the best week since August with the USD trading in a tight range ahead of the key US jobs data later today, while London copper rose over a percent is underpinned by the positive risk tone.

DB's Jim Reid concludes the overnight wrap
The age of innocence has truly gone in financial markets after a turbulent 24 hours but one that saw a spectacular rally after Europe closed last night and one that has steadily carried on in Asia overnight (more on this below). Before we get to that I’m on an intense client marketing roadshow at the moment on the 2019 Credit outlook and there are a litany of worries out there from investors. Maybe I’m trying to be too cute here but I think the problems we’re seeing in credit at the moment are more of a “ghost of Xmas future” rather than a sign of an imminent disaster scenario. However my overall confidence that credit will blow up around the end of this cycle has only intensified in the last couple of weeks. Liquidity is awful in credit and it’s been a broken two way market for several years (probably as long as I’ve worked in it - 24 years). However this has got worse this cycle as the size of the market has grown rapidly but dealer balance sheets have reduced. As such you can buy massive size at new issue but your ability to sell in secondary is constrained to a small percentage of this. This didn’t matter much when inflows dominated - as they mostly did in this cycle pre-2018 - but in a year of outflows across the board the lack of a proper two way market is increasingly being felt. As discussed I don’t think this is the start of the crisis yet but be warned that when this economic cycle does roll over or even starts to operate at stall speed the credit market will be very messy and will influence other markets again.
On the positive side and despite a very steep mid-session selloff, US markets ultimately closed well off the lows. The DOW, S&P 500 and NASDAQ finished -0.32%, -0.15% and +0.42% respectively, though they traded as low as -3.14%, -2.91%, and -2.43% respectively, around noon in New York. At its lows, the S&P 500 was on course for its worst two-session stretch since February, and before that you’d have to go back to August 2015 or 2011 to find the last episode with as steep a two-day drop. The DOW and S&P 500 dipped into negative territory for the year again, but clawed back and are now +0.92% and +0.84% YTD (+3.16% and +2.69% on a total return basis). The NASDAQ has clung to its outperformance, as it is now up +4.13% this year, or +5.20% on a total return basis, though of course the difference is narrower in the low-dividend paying, high-growth tech index.
Unsurprisingly, the moves yesterday coincided with higher volatility with the VIX climbing as much as +5.2pts to 25.94 and pretty much back to the October highs, though it too rallied alongside the equity market to end close to flat at 21.15. Meanwhile, the price action was even uglier in Europe as the US lows were around the close. The STOXX 600 plunged -3.09% and is down -4.22% in two days – the most in two days since June 2016. Nowhere was safe. The DAX (-3.48%), CAC (-3.32%), FTSE MIB (-3.54%) and IBEX (-2.75%) all saw huge moves lower. The DAX has now joined the Italy’s FSTEMIB in bear market territory, as it is now -20.49% off its highs earlier this year. The FTSEMIB is down -24.04% from its highs. European Banks – which were already down nearly -27% YTD going into yesterday – tumbled -4.29% for the biggest daily fall since May and the third biggest since immediately after Brexit. The index is now at the lowest since October 2016 and within 17% of the June 2016 lows all of a sudden. US Banks fell -1.87%, though they had dipped -4.3% at their troughs to touch the lowest level since September 2017.
As for credit, HY cash spreads in Europe and the US were +8.5bps and +14.8bps wider respectively. For context, US spreads are now at the widest since December 2016 and this is the best performing broad credit market over the last couple of years. In bond markets, 10y Treasuries rallied-2.4bps but was as much as 9bps lower intra-day. Thanks to an outperformance at the front end (two-year fell -3.7bps), the 2s10s curve actually ended a shade steeper at 13.0bps (+1.3bps on the day). However that move for the 10y now puts it at the lowest since September at 2.89%, and only +48.6bps above where we started the year. The spread on the Dec 19 to Dec 18 eurodollar contract – indicative for what is priced into Fed hikes for next year - is down to just 16bps. It was at 60bps in October. This certainly appears to be too low, though a Wall Street Journal article yesterday seemed to signal a willingness by the Fed to moderate its pace of rate hikes. Finally, in Europe, Bunds closed -4.1bps lower at 0.236%.
Quite amazing moves with Bunds continuing to defy all fundamental logic and trading instead as a risk-off lightning rod. There was some talk that the sharp moves lower at the open yesterday were exaggerated by the unexpected midweek close for markets in the US which resulted in futures systems failing to be programmed to adjust and orders backing up. However the combination of a -2.25% drop for WTI (-5.2% at the lows) post the OPEC meeting (more below) and the Huawei story that we mentioned yesterday certainly aided to the initial malaise. There was some talk that both the Chinese and US authorities would have been aware of the arrest before last weekend’s talks and as such this story shouldn’t be necessarily a threat to the truce, though Reuters reported last night that President Trump did not know about the planned arrest. The implications of this are unclear, since it could mean that Trump has less direct control over the arresting agency, but it could also indicate that the move is not part of trade policy. Either way, how this development will be key for the market moving forward, especially any response from Chinese officials.
This morning in Asia markets are largely trading higher with the Nikkei (+0.60%), Hang Seng (+0.21%), Shanghai Comp (+0.08%) and Kospi (+0.51%) all up. Elsewhere, futures on the S&P 500 (-0.11%) are pointing towards a flattish start. Meantime crude oil (WTI -0.39% and Brent -0.60%) prices are continuing to trade lower this morning. It wouldn’t be an EMR worth it’s place in the daily schedule without an Italy and Brexit update. As we go to print Italian daily La Stampa has reported that the Italian Premier Conte and Deputy Premier Di Maio are in favour of the resignation of Finance Minister Tria while Deputy Premier Salvini is against his resignation. So signs of tension. In the U.K. a few press articles (like Bloomberg) are suggesting that PM May is considering postponing Tuesday’s big vote. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of substance to the story at the moment but it mentions going back to the EU for concessions on the Irish backstop as one possibility. How the EU will feel would be the obvious question.
As mentioned earlier, oil had a difficult session yesterday, falling back to its recent lows with WTI touching a $50 handle and Brent trading back below $60 per barrel. The first day of the OPEC summit did not appear promising for the odds of a new production deal, as the ministers apparently discussed a 1 million barrel per day cut, below the 1.5 million needed to balance the market. The Libyan oil minister abruptly left before the day’s meetings concluded, and the organization canceled their scheduled press conference. The Russian delegation will join the OPEC contingent today in an effort to finalize a deal, but Saudi Energy Minister al-Falih said that “Russia is not ready for a substantial cut.” Watch this space today.
Overnight, the Fed Chair Powell delivered an upbeat message on the US economy and the Job market ahead of today’s payrolls release. He said, “our economy is currently performing very well overall, with strong job creation and gradually rising wages,’’ while adding, “in fact, by many national-level measures, our labour market is very strong.’’ Elsewhere, the Fed’s John Williams said yesterday that the biggest challenge which the policy makers are facing is achieving a soft landing. He said, “we have a pretty strong economy -- unemployment pretty low, inflation near our goal -- it’s just managing a soft landing, keeping this expansion going for the next few years.”
So will the last employment report released this year (the December report comes out in early January) help markets to continue to form a base? The consensus for nonfarm payrolls today is for a 198k print, following the stronger-thanexpected 250k reading last month. Average hourly earnings are expected to rise +0.3% mom which should be enough to keep the annual reading at +3.1% yoy while the unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 3.7%. Our US economists are more or less in line with the consensus with a 200k forecast and also expect earnings to climb +0.3% mom, however that would be consistent with a small tick up in the annual rate to +3.17% and the fastest pace since April 2009. They also expect the current pace of job growth to push the unemployment rate down to 3.6% which would be the lowest since December 1969.
Going into that, yesterday’s ADP employment change report for November was a tad disappointing at 179k (vs. 195k expected) while more interestingly the recent tick up in initial jobless claims held with the print coming in at 231k. The four-week moving average is now 228k and the highest since April having gotten as low as 206k in September. So the climb, while not yet at concerning levels, is certainly notable and worth watching now on a week to week basis. As for the other interesting data points yesterday, the October trade deficit was confirmed as reaching a new cyclical wide. The ISM non-manufacturing print for November was a relative positive after coming in at 60.7, up 0.4pts from October and ahead of expectations for a decline to 59.0. Worth noting is that the three-month moving average of non-manufacturing ISM is now the highest on record which is a fairly reliable lead indicator for private nonfarm payrolls. US durable goods orders for October were revised slightly higher to -4.3% mom from -4.4%, though the core measures stayed at 0.0% mom. Factory orders declined -2.1% mom, though both were nevertheless higher year-on-year.
As for the day ahead, the aforementioned November employment in the US will no doubt be front and centre, however, prior to that, we’ve October industrial production prints in Germany and France, along with Q3 labour costs in the former, and the final Q3 GDP revisions for the Euro Area (no change from +0.2% qoq second reading expected). We’ll also get the monthly inflation reporting for November in the UK. Also due out in the US is October wholesale inventories and trade sales, the preliminary December University of Michigan survey and October consumer credit. November foreign reserves data in China is also expected out at some point. Away from that the OPEC/OPEC+ meeting moves into the final day while the ECB’s Coeure and Fed’s Brainard are scheduled to speak. Today is also the day that Germany’s ruling CDU party elects a new chair to succeed Merkel. Our FX strategists noted yesterday that according to polls, the result should be a close call between general secretary Annegret Kramp-Karranbauer (AKK) and Friedrich Merz. Broadly speaking, AKK stands for a continuation of the Merkel-era strategy of positioning the CDU at the centre of the political spectrum, whereas Merz stands for a sharpening of the party's traditional profile as a centre-right party. Last night our German economics team put out a piece explaining the event and suggesting that Merz would be good for the DAX and AKK good for the Euro.
